Obituary

Otis Pinkney, 88, of Millen, GA, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023, surrounded by his children.
Otis was born to Dallas and Mable Pinkney on August 30, 1935. He was raised in Millen, GA, where he attended school.
He later enlisted in the United States Navy, as a boiler room helper. He also received the honor, Trusty Shellback. After discharge from the Navy, he worked as a merchant Marine for many years. Moving on to Fort Benning Army Base in Columbus, he worked as a Boiler operation engineer until retiring.
Otis was also a proud author of the book he wrote called "The Life of the Son of A Sharecropper – The Boiler room of the USS Toledo CA.133
Otis was preceded by his loving wife, Ernestine of forty-three years, his parents, Dallas and Mable, and eight siblings.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Otis Pinkney, Jr, Thomas Williams, and Aletha Smith; two grandchildren, William Smith, III, and Terrell Smith, and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
