Mr. Mathis Young was born on October 2, 1942, in Bartow, Georgia to the union of James Young and Ellner Gibbons Young.
Mathis met and married Dorothy Young on July 19, 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ellner Young, four brothers, George, Roosevelt, Charlie Young, and William Young, Sr., and two sisters, Anne Young and Francis Johnson.

His words of wisdom always will echo in the hearts of his daughters, Terry Wilmington, DE, Kiwanda Young, Richmond, VA, Rosalind Young, Wilmington, DE, Lenora Walker, Millen, GA, and Lakiesha Young (Detron Hamond), Kathleen, GA; a sister Sarah (Charles) Ivory, Cleveland, OH and two brothers, John Young, Wilmington, DE and James (Gloria) Young, Jr., Tampa, FL; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
