Obituary
Edward Chance was born on December 19, 1946, in Millen (Jenkins County), Georgia. Born to the late James O. Evans and Helen Chance. Ed was preceded in death by his four siblings: Hattie Chance Beal (Trenton, NJ), Mary B. Evans Boles (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), James O. Evans Jr. (Clinton, MD), and Joseph Chance (Trenton, NJ)
“Ed,” as he was called by most family and friends, was educated in the Millen school system and graduated from Burgess Landrum in 1967. Shortly after graduation, “Ed” joined the United States Army. While serving in the United States Army, Ed received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Four Palms. In his loving relationship with Della (Harris) Brinson, they were the parents of his only son, Jeffrey B. Harris.
Ed lived in Florida and New Jersey, before moving back home to Georga. Where he settled.
Ed was employed at Grady Memorial Hospital as a Surgical Support Technician until he resided in 2017. After a couple of years in Atlanta, Ed moved back home to Millen to be around family and friends until it was time to take his eternal rest.
His loving memory will forever linger in the hearts and minds of his survivors: His only son, Jeffrey B Harris Sr. of Millen, Georgia; and his: Ten (10) Grandchildren: Joseph Harris, Tamranisha Harris,,, San Francisco, Jasmine Harris San Francisco, Mouriyantae Harris Vallejo, Keyonte Harris Vacaville, Jeffrey Harris Jr, all of Sacramento, CA; Rene Harris, Rincon, GA, Lataisa Harris, Sacramento, CA, Taylor Harris and Morgan Harris, Millen, GA
Six (6) Great-grandchildren: Tyshun Lane, Tamiyah Harris, Jua’Nez Harris (All of California); Desiree Young, Desire Young, Djior Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
