Obituary

"God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship
Him in Spirit and Truth." John 4:24

God has a beautiful garden full of flowers. Friday morning, He decided to pick another to add to his collection. Although our hearts are heavy and tears may flow, we are not dismayed because "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in our time of need."
Ms. Elouise Jane "Weezie" Wright was born on September 19, 1955, to the late Mr. James Franklin Wright, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Jane Howard Wright Scott in Plant City, Florida. She was the granddaughter of the late Paul and Ruby Wright, and the late John and Serena Howard.
Weezie was two months old when the family moved to Millen, Georgia. Weezie entered the Burgess Landrum School and later Jenkins County Junior High once the County's schools were integrated in 1971. Weezie is a 1975 graduate of Jenkins County High School. She attended Fort Valley State College and obtained a Bachelor of Science in History. She graduated MagnaCum Laude. She received her Master of Education from Walden University with a 4.0 grade point average. Weezie was a 32-year retired teacher of the Jenkins County School System. She taught Georgia Studies to eighth graders. She believed that a professional should belong to their professional organization. She joined the Georgia Association of Educators and held several offices. Among her accomplishments during her career was being the first to chair the Academic Bowl for Olympic Week (1990). Jenkins County Middle School Teacher of the Year (1990), and the first African American Jenkins County School System Teacher of the Year (1990). Weezie was the first in her family to graduate from high school, and to attend college.
Weezie was involved in her community. She was a Central Savannah River Council Girl Scout Leader for more than 30 years, a Charter Member of the Millen Optimist Club where she held many offices. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated where she held several offices. She was indeed a trailblazer for her family.
Weezie confessed Christ at an early age and was a life-time member of the First McCoy Baptist Church. Through the years, Weezie had a multiplicity of roles in the church. She was the Junior Church Secretary, Church Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Usher. Weezie never married, but gathered her younger sisters, nieces and nephews to her and mothered them. She had seven godchildren.
She departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2022, after a short illness. Weezie is preceded in death by her father, James Franklin Wright, Sr.; four sisters, Mary Wright Grant, Geneva Wright Bullard, Richardean Wright Norwood, and Sylvia Smith Jones; and one godson, Quentin Antonia Wright.
