Mother Gussie Lee Newton was born August 5, 1932, to the late Mr. Vinnie Newton and Ms. Roxie Slay in Millen Ga. She departed this earthly life April 1, 2024, surrounded by family.

Our Beloved Mother loved the Lord and was willing to help anyone in need. She graciously took care of her family and many others. Mother never met a stranger and considered everyone family. She was a great mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mother Gussie Newton dedicated her life to the Lord. She was a member of Gordon Grove Baptist where she served on the Mother Board. Mother Gussie loved to fish, pick peas, and shell pecans, planting flowers in her yard and spending time with her family.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Vinnie Newton and Roxie Slay; her brothers Robert Branch, Willie Newton, Walter Newton, Henry Jeff, Weslie Jeff, and Lee Jeff, and Artis Newton.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Carey (Barbara) Watkins Sr, Joyce (Raliegh) Cross of Statesboro Ga. , Roxie Ann (Roger) Williams, Beverly Newton, Shirley (Jimmy) Reese, one sister Willie Bell Coleman, and her sister-in-law Flora Mae Newton all of Millen Ga. Two God daughters Latesa Heard and Keondra Kelly. Fifteen grands, 30 great grands and three great-great grands. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. A friend that was like a sister Annie Newton. Special friends Robert and Kelly Womack and family, Ben Newton, John Paul (Monica), Steve Lane and family and many-many others.
Visitation will be Friday, April 5th from 1:00 PM TO 5:00 P.M. Family returns at 4:00 for a wake starting 4 ending at 5:00 p.m.
