Lucious Boyd Sr. was born in Screven County, Georgia to Grover
Cleveland Boyd and Fannie Mae Coney Boyd on April 11, 1938. He
was preceded in death by both his parents and siblings Herman Boyd,
Corine Campbell, Grover Boyd Jr., Henry Boyd, Eliza Boyd, Lula Mae
Boyd, Charles Boyd Sr., Rufus Boyd, Rosa Mae Dunbar. Lucious
logged his last mile on January 20, 2024.
Lucious was a studious, hardworking, and God-fearing man. He
attended Rocky Ford School System, was a faithful member of
Hurricane Branch Baptist Church. Lucious "Preacher Man" Boyd Sr.
started his truck driving career at a very young age and continued up
until his health issues forced him to retire in 2020. Although he spent
most of his time on the road, he held his children, grandchildren and
siblings dear to his heart. Lucious was a jovial spirit, who had an art for
conversation, which has left a lasting mark on the spirits of everyone
who loved and knew him.
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory his daughters Renee (Chris)
Carter, Denise (Walter) Childs, sons Rodney Boyd, Lucious Boyd Jr.,
his stepchildren Tammy Williams, Garfield Hendrix, Dedee Scott, his
brother Gary Boyd Sr., his sister Mary Green. He has 13 grandchildren,
22 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
