Mamie Oglesby Reese was born June 4, 1946, in Jenkins County, to the late Grady and Ruth Oglesby in Millen, GA. She was the fifth of nine children. Two siblings have preceded her in death: Isaiah Oglesby and Roberta Williams. Mamie Jo as she was so lovingly known, gained her Heavenly wings on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Mamie was educated in the Jenkins County School System, where she graduated. In 1969, Mamie was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Lenzie Reese Sr. To this union three children were born. At an early age Mother Reese joined Lane Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served in the following capacities: Choir President, Kitchen Aide, Deaconess, Mother Board, and Mother of the Church. During this time Mamie performed various acts of charity, hospitality, and assistance to those inside and outside the church. Mamie was also known for her warm smile, and both cooking and baking skills.
She leaves to celebrate her life her husband, Lenzie Reese Sr.; two sons: Christopher (Dorothy) Reese Sr., and Lenzie Reese Jr.; one daughter: Tangie (Chadwick) Reese Johnson; four grandsons: Christopher V. Reese Jr., Koriaun D. Reese, Taylor A. Reese, and Chadwick J. Johnson Jr.; two granddaughters: Tierra N. Reese, and Kiara D. Reese; one great grandson: Kaiden E. Reese; five sisters: Geraldine Brinson, Naomi Thomas; Emma Turner, Judy (Willie) Vaughan, and Lotis Oglesby; one brother: Rev. Charlie (Mary) Oglesby; five sister-in-laws; Min. Christine (Perry) Stripling, Rosa Lee (Emmanuel) Reese Sharpe, Nelrose Reese, Gloria Oglesby, and Earnestine Reese; two brother-in-laws: Elijah (Bernice) Reese, and Bobbie Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and countless friends.
