OBITUARY
Robert Wright, Jr., affectionately known to all as “Donkey,” passed away on May 18, 2026, at his
home in Millen, Georgia. He was 77 years old.
Born on March 13, 1949, in Screven County, Georgia, to the late Ruby Wright Simmons and the late
Robert Wright, Sr. Robert received his education at Burgess Landrum High School, shortly after he
moved to Atlanta, Georgia. The years he lived in the Atlanta, Georgia area he worked in the
construction field for over a decade, touching the hearts of those he met along the way. Robert
believed strongly in the value of hard work, and spent many years building a life through
determination, resilience, and honest labor.
Robert made his home in Atlanta, Georgia for many years before moving back to the place he always
considered home, Millen, Georgia to be closer to family and long-life friends. Returning to where
Robert called home, Robert worked for many years with Perry Landscaping before retiring in the year
2023. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, grilling, and playing horseshoes with family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed him into eternal rest two sisters: Ruth Ann
Roberts and Susie Wright Harris; and two brothers: Henry Mills and John Wright.
He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly and will forever cherish the memories, love, and
lessons he shared: Tom Wright of Metter, Georgia; Charles Wright of Maryland; Otis (Luz) Wright of
Marietta, Georgia; Larry (Joyce) Gibbons of Millen, Georgia; Alma (Willie) Newton of Millen, Georgia;
Eddie James Simmons of Atlanta, Georgia; Henry (Neltricia) Simmons of Millen, Georgia; He also
leaves behind a devoted companion and special friend, Eva Mae Williams, whom shared many
cherished years with him along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
