OBITUARY
Brother Tommy Lee Young was born October 29, 1963, in Jenkins County to Mr. Joe Haynes, Sr. and Josephine Young. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, he made his transition into his heavenly home.
At an early age he joined St. John Baptist Church in Midville, GA with his mother; later in his adulthood he joined Williams Grove C.O.G.I.C. where he served faithfully as a choir member in the Men Chorus and brotherhood.
As a young boy he was educated in the Jenkins County School System. Later in his adulthood he was employed with MI Windows and Doors in Millen, GA and Transformer Plant in Waynesboro, GA.
He will be remembered as a loving person that loved everyone and took care of others before himself.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Haynes, Sr., his mother, Josephine Young, his brothers, Jimmy Young, Joe Haynes, Jr., and Howard Young, his sisters, Rosa Pinkney, Lula Doyle, Mattie B. Lewis and Dorothy Young.
He leaves great memories to be cherished and carry on his legacy: a loving daughter, Chiquita Young of Statesboro, GA (Shawn Alston), eight grandchildren that he loved very much, Omari Young, Lorandus, Myria, Ta'Porche, and Shatazia Byrd, Sanchez and Shautierra Alston and Bryson Young; his siblings, John Willie (Annie) Young, Thelmon Hagins, Jessie Paul Young, Roosevelt Anthony, Mae Della Sapp, and Frances Young; one sister-in-law, Onie B. Haynes; his aunts, Alberta Edwards, Martha (Jeff) Foreman, Dorothy Brown, and Linda Haynes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends he was close to.
Public Viewing will be today, April 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at James A. Kirkland Mortuary.
