Willie Lee Sampson was born on May 14, 1950, to Lula Bell Dawson and Clyde Sampson in Millen, Georgia. He entered eternal rest at his home on April 21, 2025.
Willie attended Aaron Elementary and Burgess Landrum Middle School both in Millen Georgia. He joined the church and was baptized at a young age. Willie was an active member of Gordon Grove Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health no longer permitted active attendance. He was recognized as an Honorary Deacon of the church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Davis.
Willie began his career as a mobile home fabricator at Bellcrest Mobile Homes. He was employed with Bellcrest for thirty plus years, and he worked until he experienced vision loss which led him to a medical retirement. During his tenure, Willie's hard work and dedication placed him in a supervisory position prior to his retirement. He was a dedicated worker and loved perfecting his craft.
Willie was no stranger to the community. He lived every moment with love, passion, and energy. He had a generous heart and didn't mind offering a helping hand. He was a talented musician and loved to sing, a fierce competitor on the basketball court, and a thrill-seeker behind the wheel of a hot rod. "Willie Jr", was well- known for having the fastest hot rod in the CSRA. He embraced life with an unstoppable spirit, a contagious smile, and sense of humor that inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Lula Bell Dawson; Father, Clyde Sampson; Son, Willis Sampson; Sister, Lillie Clara Stubbs; Brothers, Clinton Dawson and Paul Sampson.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved companion, Barbara Mason of (Millen, GA); Wife, Gloria Sampson of (Millen, GA); Daughter, Michelle Miller of (Evans, GA); Son, Xavier Mason of (Millen, GA); two children that he helped to raise, Antoine Williams and Veronica Hart both of (Fort Lauderdale, FL); Grandson, Kai-Aire Rhodes of (Birmingham, AL); four Sisters; Barbara Ports of (Philadelphia, PA), Felicia (Malcolm) Chaplin of (Savannah, GA), Yolanda (Walter) Cox of (Millen, GA), and Irish Sampson of (Statesboro, GA); three Brothers; Wilden Clyde Sampson of (Allentown, PA) , Willie Clyde (Sandra) Sampson of (Millen, GA), and Wilcom (Sherese) Sampson of (Beaufort, SC); one Aunt, Margaret Gadson of (Fort Lauderdale, FL); one Uncle, Charlie Ellison of (Savannah, GA.); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
